Our last full day was spent at Parc Aventura in Brasov. It was a day of rope courses and ziplines through the Transylvanian forest.
Our travel day meant saying goodbye to our host’s parents. The house had served as an excellent base for our day adventures. We traveled back through the mountain passes in much sunnier weather and enjoyed the views on our way back to Bucharest.
We had one more stop planned on our way to the airport, at Snagov Monastery. It’s on a small island in Snagov Lake, which is surrounded by a few extravagant homes. This is supposedly where the body of Vlad Tepes is buried, with his head having been sent back to Mehmed II in Istanbul. The link is strenuous at best, but the peaceful setting and beautiful monastery preclude needing another reason to visit the island. And, more dogs!
